Some Watford businesses have shut or reduced services due to the record-breaking temperatures expected today.
A red weather warning is in place for the area rest of the day with the Met Office warning of a risk to life and wider infrastructure.

Due to the extreme heat forecasted for Tuesday, and for the guidance being issued, we have taken the decision to close on Tuesday for everyone's safety.

- No.8 at The Red Lion, in Vicarage Road, has been closed today and yesterday due to the heat and staff recommended everyone stays safe and hydrated over the heatwave.
- Random Café, in Garsmouth Way, a non-profit pop-up project that reduces food waste, has confirmed it will not open again until Thursday.
- The Plant Shop, in Hempstead Road, brought in temporary opening hours due to the heat, which would be especially tough in a greenhouse, including full closures from Sunday until today.
- Alternatives Watford, a charity organisation in Clarendon Road, closed from Sunday until today, for the safety of staff during the heatwave.
- Three libraries, Bovingdon, Leverstock Green and Kings Langley, have closed early and the council has said disruption may continue for a few days.
