Smoke was seen filling up a section of Atria Watford while a loud alarm was blaring.
Footage captured inside the shopping centre shows smoke appearing from the Goldsmiths jewellery store in the upper mall section near the Apple store.
According to an eyewitness, it began at around 4.40pm today (July 18) as shoppers stopped to see what was happening.
An Atria Watford spokesperson explained this was a false security alarm that was set off at one of their retailers.
The spokesperson said: “Part of the centre was temporarily evacuated late this afternoon and remained closed for approximately half an hour. We are now back open as normal.”
Despite the alarm being activated, there was no attempts of a robbery to trigger the smoke cloak.
