The neighbourhoods in Three Rivers most targeted by burglars in 2021 have been revealed.
Figures shared by Hertfordshire Constabulary show the number of burglaries recorded in each of the district’s 13 wards.
In total, there were 353 burglaries reported to police last year with the most occurring in Chorleywood South and Maple Cross.
This was followed by 40 in Chorleywood North & Sarratt, 39 in Rickmansworth Town ward, and 36 in Moor Park and Eastbury.
There were 37 burglaries in South Oxhey, 27 in Carpenders Park, 24 in Gade Valley ward, 22 in Mill End and the Penn area of Rickmansworth, 22 in Leavesden, and 20 in Durrants in Croxley Green.
The fewest burglaries were reported in Dickinson’s ward in Croxley Green, 15 in Abbots Langley and Bedmond, and 17 in Oxhey Hall & Hayling.
Two further burglaries did not have a ward specified.
The data, released via a Freedom of Information request, also reveals how many suspects have been arrested in connection with burglaries in Three Rivers in 2021.
In total, there were 54 arrests linked to 42 of the 353 burglaries.
This includes 10 arrests related to burglaries in South Oxhey and nine for Chorleywood South and Maple Cross.
The data does not say anything further about how many who were arrested went on to be charged and convicted.
Last week, police urged residents across Hertfordshire to make sure their homes are secure, particularly if going away on holiday.
Inspector Nicki Dean, from Hertfordshire Constabulary’s crime reduction unit, warned: “Whilst burglaries are around the same levels as they were this time last year, we often see an increase once the summer holidays start and homes are left empty for days or weeks at a time.
“If your home is left unoccupied burglars will look for tell-tale signs, like unopened letters at the front door, bins not put away or drawn curtains during the day. Making it appear that your home is occupied can be the most effective deterrent against burglary.”
