A burst pipe left around a hundred properties in Watford town centre temporarily without water.

Engineers from Affinity Water were called to The Parade on Thursday following reports of a burst water main, with repairs beginning at around 6pm.

Earlier in the day, photos showed large puddles of water in The Parade, near the pond, with water seeping out from one of the paving stones.

An Affinity Water spokesperson said: “We were alerted to a burst water main in the centre of Watford. Our technicians attended quickly to investigate, make the area safe and begin repairs."

They added: “We managed to maintain supplies to customers apart from at around 10pm when we had to temporarily isolate the water supply to around 100 properties to complete the repair to the section of pipe that had burst.

"Supplies were quickly restored within two hours. We’re sorry for any disruption this caused and we would like to thank customers for their patience.”
