A passing driver has described rushing to the aid of a man who was hit by a car on Watford’s ring road last week.
Police say a pedestrian suffered a head injury after he was struck by a white Mercedes shortly before 11pm on Friday (June 24).
He was taken to hospital where his condition was described by Hertfordshire Constabulary as serious but “stable”.

A woman who was travelling on the ring road said the man was crossing between the Jobcentre and the entrance to Wellstones car park when he was hit.
She says she did not see the collision but was only a couple of vehicles behind the Mercedes.
She said: “I saw a man on the floor and decided to stop and check if anyone needed help.
“When I saw the casualty, I saw that he was bleeding from his head and that he was unconscious.”
The woman, who asked not to be named but said she is first-aid trained, said: “He was still breathing so I put him in the recovery position and got a piece of clothing and put pressure on the wound to stop it bleeding.”
She added: “The driver of the car involved was on the phone to the emergency services and explaining to them what was going on.”
The woman estimates paramedics were on scene within five to seven minutes and the man, whose age is unconfirmed but thought to be in his 20s, was later taken to Watford General Hospital.
She says the Mercedes that hit the pedestrian had been travelling in the right-hand lane of the ring road and that there was not a pedestrian crossing where she found him injured.
Police shut Watford ring road between the junctions of Market Street and Upton Road and motorists were asked to avoid the area.
