The fire is believed to have been started accidentally.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service said: “We were called just before 2am this morning to reports of smoke coming from Dome Kitchen in St Albans Road, Watford.
“Three fire engines, from Watford and Garston fire stations, were sent to the scene, where crews found smoke issuing from the shop shutter.
“Firefighters in breathing apparatus forced their way into the building and extinguished a fire in the ground floor café.
“Crews then ventilated the property to clear the smoke and remained on scene until around 4am to damp down the scene and ensure the fire was fully out.
“Nobody was hurt and the fire is believed to have been started accidentally.”
