After the number of times Watford MP Mr Dean Russell has kept defending the Prime Minister and his actions, it comes as no surprise to read in the Watford Observer that Mr Russell voted to support Prime Minister Johnson when the PM faced a vote of confidence last Monday evening.
It’s now seven months since the “Partygate” scandal broke. Mr Russell originally said he was awaiting the publication of the Sue Gray report before moving against the PM. Then, when the police intervened, he said he would wait to see if any fines were announced before moving against the PM. Then it was when the voters delivered their verdict on those fines in the local elections. Then it was the completion of the police investigations. And, then back again to the publication of the Sue Gray report before he would make a move against the PM.
Now the briefing for Mr Russell and his Tory colleagues will be let’s wait until after the electoral tests in Tiverton and Honiton before moving against the Prime Minister. Or, in the wake of yet another “Partygate” investigation, this one by Harriet Harman’s parliamentary privileges committee.
After the investigations by the Metropolitan Police and Sue Gray regarding the sickening revelations of drunken behaviour in 10 Downing Street, I just wonder how much more slack can Mr Russell cut the PM?
