A proposal to install a new heating system at a school is among the planning applications validated by Watford, Three Rivers and Dacorum councils this week.

Watford Grammar School for Boys has submitted an application to replace its existing boilers with air source heat pumps to provide heating and hot water. These will run on electric rather than fossil fuel.

A planning statement with the application states the heat pumps will "provide a more energy efficient alternative, eliminating carbon emissions from this part of the school".
