A primary school that previously required improvement has managed to turn itself around under new leadership.
Greenfields Primary School in Ellesborough Close, South Oxhey, was slammed by Ofsted in 2018 for high absence rates, inconsistent leadership and other issues.
However after Kate Day became headteacher in 2019, improvements were quickly enforced and the school watchdog has now rated the school ‘good’.
Inspectors visited the school on April 27 and 28 and found sufficient progress in the effectiveness of leadership, quality of teaching, personal development and behaviour of children, outcomes for pupils, and the early year provision.

Specifically, the report said that the headteacher “placed building strong releationships at the heart of the school’s work”.
Pupils were said to have behaved well and build positive relationships.
The report also stated that there has been “effective communication and training” in improving the school and the new leadership has introduced an ambitious curriculum.
Parents have praised the strong community links and how children “know they are loved and cared for”.
"The real stars are the children," said Mrs Day. "They are the heart of the school and are at the centre of every decision we make.”
The headteacher continued: “They wowed the inspection team and told the inspectors how it is to be a student here at Greenfields.
“They shared their love of reading and showed all the investment we have put into making reading the core of our curriculum.”

Mrs Day said: “The report is testament to all the hard work and passion that all the team at Greenfields has for the children to be the best that they can be.
“I am so proud to lead not only the amazing staff, but to be a part of every child's life, and their family is an honour.
“Being at Greenfields- I'm not just a mum to my own two children, I have 208 children!
“I want the very best for every one of them. I am delighted that Greenfields is good again - but to me it will always be great!"
