Watford has been listed as one of the most affordable areas of the UK where house buyers can pay less to live near an “outstanding” school.
Living near well-performing schools can be a very important aspect for house hunting families – with postcodes situated near ‘outstanding’ schools likely to cost more than houses further away.
But some towns seem to go against the trend of houses near such schools being more excessively expensive, according to a study by Money.co.uk.
Watford is ranked as the third most affordable place to live near an “outstanding” school without paying extortionate house prices.
The average price in Watford areas with an “outstanding” school is £553,283, while the average price for areas in Watford without an “outstanding” school comes in at £669,635.
Wakefield was rated the most affordable place – with the cost of homes near an outstanding school being an average of £210,137, and it being £307,866 on average without a near outstanding school.
Wolverhampton was second, with prices averaging £182,181 in areas with an outstanding school, and £234,242 without.
