A teenager was caught with a machete in Watford Met Station.

A 15-year-old is said to have carried the blade without good reason or lawful authority on August 24 last year.

The boy pleaded guilty at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on May 18 this year.

He was referred to the South Herts youth offender panel for nine months and the machete was confiscated and destroyed.

His parent or guardian was also instructed to pay a total of £107 to cover victim services, and crown prosecution service cost.

Derek Gordon Stewart, 56, has been banned from the Costcutter in Queens Road as he awaits sentencing at St Albans Crown Court.

He is accused of smashing the window of the store on October 6 last year, as well as Carrying a lock knife.

St Albans Magistrates’ Court heard that he allegedly used threatening or abusive words to two people and stole a chocolate bar.

Stewart pleaded not guilty to all charges on November 8, 2021, and was found guilty on March 28 this year.

He will be sentenced at the crown court on June 10.
