A busy road in Watford is among those in the area set to be temporarily closed in the coming weeks and months for roadworks.

A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer details plans to shut roads in Watford, Bushey and Hunton Bridge while the works are carried out.

All temporary closure orders are valid for up to 18 months and the work will only be carried out at times specified on signs at or near the relevant locations.

The A4145 Vicarage Road, Watford, is set to be closed from its junction with A4145 Hagden Lane north-eastwards to its junction with A4178 Farraline Road, a distance of 576m, for works.

The order is scheduled to come into force on June 15 and an alternative route will be available via A4145 Hagden Lane, Hagden Lane, A412 (Rickmansworth Road/St Albans Road), the A411 Beechen Grove/A411 Hempstead Road roundabout, A412 (St Albans Road/Rickmansworth Road) and A4178 (Cassio Road/Merton Road/Wiggenhall Road/Farraline Road) or via A4178 (Fearnley Street/The Hornets/Merton Road/Cassio Road, A412 Rickmansworth Road, Hagden Lane and A4145 Hagden Lane.

Sydney Road, Watford, is due to be closed from its junction with Hagden Lane north-westwards for a distance of 200m for utility works.

The order, if made, will take effect on June 13 and the diversion will be via Hagden Lane, Whippendell Road and Sydney Road.

Water service connection works are set to shut The Turnstones, Watford, from its junction with The Gossamers south-eastwards to its junction with Alma Place, a distance of 75m.

This order is due to come into place on June 14 and the diversion will be via The Gossamers, York Way and The Turnstones.

Vehicles are set to be prohibited from using Vale Road, Bushey, from a point 100m south-east of its junction with B462 Aldenham Road south-eastwards for a distance of 78m.

This order is due to take effect from June 14 and is needed for water service connection works.

An order is set to come into force on June 13 for the temporary closure of Old Mill Road, Hunton Bridge, from a point 96m north-west of its junction with A41 Watford Road north-westwards for a distance of 31m for electrical works.

The following day another order is set to take effect in Old Mill Road, this time from its junction with Bridge Road south-eastwards for a distance of 54m. This is for water service connection works.
