Firefighters rescued a deer that had become stuck in a fence at a Watford primary school.
A crew and a vet were called to Nascot Wood Junior School yesterday morning (May 24).
A Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.33am to a muntjac deer trapped in the fence at Nascot Wood Junior School in Nascot Wood Road.
“One appliance from Watford attended. The crew assisted a vet with extrication of the deer.”
The deer was rescued by 9.30am.
Eyewitness Jimmy Wu said: “We could see the fire engine parked inside the school campus and some firemen were at the gate.
“As we were leaving, we heard some strange screams, and as we approached closer we saw this young deer stuck between the fence.
“It appears it had been struggling for some time because its hair had worn off. Two or three firemen were working on the fence to rescue the deer.
“It was thoughtful for the school to redirect the parents and kids away so there was enough space for the firemen to work on the rescue.”
