A woman in her 80s who was hit by a van in Watford has died.
Police were called to Hempstead Road on Friday (May 20) after reports of a an elderly pedestrian being struck opposite the junction of Courtlands Drive.
Emergency services attended and following initial reports that she was “seriously injured”, police have now confirmed she died at the scene.
The driver of the van was not injured and remained at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries.
Road closures were in place for the majority of the day, with a heavy emergency services presence.
Detective Constable Neil Crosier said: “Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the woman who sadly died in this incident.”
