Facilities at a playing fields are set to be improved and refurbished - and the local community is being asked about what they would like to see.

Around £375,000 is set to be invested at South Oxhey Playing Fields with Three Rivers District Council admitting the site is in a "state of disrepair".

The council says it want to introduce an "exciting and wide range" of facilities. Currently, it is home to a play area, tennis courts, grass football pitches, AstroTurf pitch, skate park, and basketball but the surfaces are "crumbling" and have become "worn down", according to a council report published earlier this year.

After funding was approved in January, a survey has now been launched to allow the council to get a better understanding of how people would like the money spent.

In the survey, the council says it wants to improve the skate park and have also asked whether locals would like to see a BMX track installed.

Officers are also looking into creating a multi-use games area, with survey respondents asked to choose their favourite design.

Other ideas being proposed include a climbing wall, chess bench, and table tennis, and replacing the existing Astroturf.

The council is also looking into the possibility of a fitness zone, additional play spaces for children, and a dog park.

The changing room pavilion, which is largely unused on weekdays, could be kept as it is or it could potentially be converted into a new community hub.

The funding of £375,000 would come from community infrastructure levy (CIL) - the main way the council collects contributions from developers for infrastructure provision to support development in the area.

The survey, which can be found here, closes at midday on Monday June 13. The council says it will use answers and comments to help determine improvements needed.
