There was a moment of silence as a plaque was unveiled at a memorial to those who died in the Covid-19 pandemic.
Watford's elected mayor unveiled the plaque on Saturday, May 14, at the 'Ring of Reflection' - 18 cherry trees planted around the Cassiobury Park bandstand.
Cherry trees represent new beginning and revival as well as life being beautiful but fleeting.
Key workers, townspeople and dignitaries listened to music and readings, and took part in a moment of silence.
Speaking at the event, Mayor Peter Taylor said: “I am sure this will be special spot for people to stop and reflect, whether on the pandemic or other important times in their lives.
“Now, we can join together to remember with sadness those lives lost in our town, the tremendous commitment and sacrifice of our front-line workers and the inspiring way people across Watford united to support each other through adversity.”
