Drivers using a motorway in our area may find their journeys disrupted due to the phased overnight closure of junction slip-roads due to roadworks on an adjoining road
A notice from National Highways in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer states that an order has been made for the phased overnight closure of all the slip roads leading to and from both carriageways of the M25 at Junction 18 (A404) at Chorleywood.
The notice states the slip road closures are needed to enable maintenance works to be carried out on the A404, which will be closed to local traffic, and it is expected the work will last for one week, starting on or after June 1. The overnight closures will take place between 10pm and 5am (maximum period).
The one.network website states the A404 will be closed westbound from 9pm to 5.30pm between June 13 to June 15, and eastbound overnight from 9pm to 6pm between June 16 and June 18.
Traffic diverted by the closure of the off-slips will be diverted on the M25 either to Junction 17 (A405) or to Junction 19 (A41) as appropriate and then follow local diversion signage on the A41, A405 and A412.
The notice states the on-slips will not be accessible when the A404 is closed.
Meanwhile, a notice from Hertfordshire County Council details its intention to close the following lengths of road for works:
- A412 Park Road, Rickmansworth, and A412 (Scots Hill/Watford Road), Croxley Green, from its junction with the A404 Chorleywood Road roundabout north-eastwards to its junction with Baldwins Lane roundabout, a distance of 3004m.
- The A412 Park Road roundabout, Rickmansworth, from its junction with A404 Chorleywood Road clockwise for its entire length.
This order, if made, will come into force on June 8 but the restrictions will only take effect at times indicated by signs at or near the roads.
All temporary closure orders are valid for up to 18 months.
