Drivers are set to find their journeys disrupted over the coming weeks and months due to the planned temporary closure of some lengthy stretches of road in our area for roadworks.

A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer details the intention to shut roads in Watford, Bushey, Oxhey and other locations for works.

All temporary road closure orders are valid for up to 18 months and the dates and times when works take place will be specified on signs at or near the relevant locations.

An order is due to come into force on May 30 authorising the closure of the following lengths of road:

  • B462 Aldenham Road, Bushey/Watford, from its junction with the Bushey Hall Road/The Avenue south-westwards roundabout to its junction with A411 Chalk Hill, a distance of 937m.
  • A411 Chalk Hill, Oxhey/Watford, and A411 (London Road/High Street/Sparrows Herne), Bushey, from its junction with A4008 Bushey Arches roundabout south-eastwards, north-eastwards and south-eastwards to its junction with A411 High Road, a distance of 2951m.
  • A4008 Aldenham Road, Watford, from its junction with A411 Chalk Hill south-westwards to its junction with A4008 Pinner Road, a distance of 153m.
  • A4008 Pinner Road, Watford, from its junction with A4008 Aldenham Road north-westwards to its junction with A4008 Bushey Arches roundabout, a distance of 158m.
  • A4008 Pinner Road, Watford/A4008 Oxhey Lane, Carpenders Park from its junction with A4008 Aldenham Road south-eastwards, south-westwards and south-eastwards for a distance of 3229m.

Another order, if made, will take effect on June 1 authorising the temporary closure of these lengths of road:

  • Tudor Avenue, Watford, from its junction with Bushey Mill Lane north-eastwards to its junction with A41 North Western Avenue Colne Way, a distance of 580m.
  • Longspring, Watford, from its junction with The Harebreaks south-westwards to its junction with Leavesden Road, a distance of 212m.
  • Leavesden Road, Watford, from its junction with Gammons Lane south-eastwards to its junction with A412 St Albans Road, a distance of 800m.
  • Brighton Road, Watford, from its junction with Sussex Road north-eastwards to its junction with Leavesden Road, a distance of 207m.
  • Gammons Lane, Watford, from its junction with Courtlands Drive south-eastwards to its junction with Leavesden Road, a distance of 1469m.
