A pub that has had rave reviews after recently reopening has won two awards.
The Gate, in Station Road, Bricket Wood, underwent refurbishment at the end of January to make changes to the bar, toilets and the outside seating area.
With a fresh new look, the Hertfordshire pub has seen a wave of reviews applauding the staff, service and food.
One review stated: “The décor and cleanliness give a good feel and the staff were very friendly and helpful.”
Another person said they had a “fantastic experience” when holding a wake for their aunt.
The review read: “The food was amazing. The service was outstanding and the staff were exceptionally helpful.”
Now it has won two prizes in the Pub Partner Awards this year, with “best marketed pub” and general manager Evan winning “rising star”.
The awards are held once a year by parent company Wells & Co.
When landlord Ben Satchfield was faced with the first lockdown and had to offer takeaways, the team at the pub managed to drum up enough interest to be fully booked for much of the pandemic.
Mr Satchfield said: “I am so pleased that Evan was put forward for the Rising Star award. He has been a dedicated member of my team and has risen from a glass collector to general manager of our country pub in less than two years.
“I know that he has learnt a lot during the nomination process and is proud to have been recognised by both myself and Wells and Co."
