Roadworks that have been causing 'havoc' for drivers for five weeks have been completed - a week later than planned.
Hundreds of residents have reportedly complained about the work at a junction in Bushey that a local county councillor described as the area's "most important and busiest".
Hertfordshire County Council and its contractor Ringway have been upgrading a set of permanent traffic lights and it was scheduled to take a month to complete, ending on April 29.
Cllr Laurence Brass said the temporary traffic lights had been causing "colossal queues" and "havoc" with queues regularly reported in Aldenham Road, Bushey Mill Lane, Little Bushey Lane, Hartspring Lane, on the A41, and leaving Costco since the end of March.
He was angry when he saw the roadworks were still in place beyond April 29 and pressed the council to find out why the roadworks had overrun.

A spokesperson for Ringway said the work was delayed due to some "complications" and apologised to those impacted. They said the work would be finished by Friday May 6.
The good news is the revised scheduled completion date has been met after Cllr Brass posted a photo on Facebook yesterday showing the new traffic lights in operation.
He said: "The Aldenham Road works have finally finished, and the new lights are now operational. Thanks for all your patience over the last five weeks."
Cllr Brass warned the council in a letter earlier this week residents will not "tolerate" any teething problems with the new traffic lights.
The council says the previous traffic lights had been in use for over 20 years and had become a "maintenance liability".
