Drivers may face some disruption due to the planned temporary closure of several roads in Watford and the Rickmansworth area for roadworks.
A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer details the extent of the intended closures and other measures that may be necessary while the works are carried out.
All temporary closure orders, if made, are valid for up to 18 months but the restrictions will only be in place at times specified on signs at or near the relevant locations.
An order is due to take effect on May 23 that would prohibit vehicles from using the following lengths of road:
- Harris Road, Watford, from its junction with Rushton Avenue south-westwards to its junction with Evans Avenue, a distance of 447m.
- Summerfield Road, Watford, from its junction with Harris Road south-eastwards and south-westwards to its junction with Clarke Way, a distance of 165m.
- Ross Crescent, Watford, from its easternmost junction with Harris Road north-westwards, south-westwards and south-eastwards for its entire length.
- Orbital Crescent, Watford, from its northernmost junction with Evans Avenue south-westwards, south-eastwards and north-eastwards for a distance of 290m.
- Evans Avenue/North Approach, Watford, from its junction with Leggatts Rise north-westwards and north-eastwards for a distance of 308m.
- Gammons Lane, Watford, from its junction with Dell Road south-eastwards to its junction with Longspring, a distance of 413m.
- Nascot Street, Watford, from its junction with Langley Road south-westwards to its junction with Malden Road, a distance of 206m.
- Eastwick Crescent, Mill End, from its junction with Long Lane north-eastwards for a distance of 72m.
- Long Lane, Mill End, from its junction with Kenwood Drive south-eastwards to its junction with A412 Uxbridge Road, a distance of 403m.
- The service road fronting Nos. 2 to 56 Long Lane, Mill End, from its junction with Kenwood Drive south-eastwards for a distance of 331m.
Separately, the council is intending to make another order due to take effect on May 23 to temporarily shut Ascot Road, Watford, from its junction with the access road leading to Morrisons north-eastwards and north-westwards for a distance of 315m, except for access, to enable foul water sewer connection works to be carried out.
Another order is set to come into force on May 26 to shut Norfolk Road, Rickmansworth, from a point 62m north-east of its junction with Church Street north-westwards for a distance of 25m to replace street lighting columns.
