The same day a man jumped over a garden fence in Woodmere Avenue before unsuccessfully trying to force open the door.
Herts Police urged residents to ensure downstairs windows and doors are secured, valuables aren’t left visible and gates, sheds and garages are locked.
The latest incidents come amid police’s annual campaign Operation Gnome, launched to combat increases in crime as weather improves.
Inspector Nicola Dean said: “People tend to buy new garden equipment, start DIY projects or splash out on barbecues, meaning there’s a lot of valuable stuff in gardens and sheds.
“We are recommending that everyone takes some basic security measures to make sure their gardens and outbuildings are secure.”
