A nursery was told it ‘requires improvement’ after inspectors took note of “disinterested” staff.
Bush-E-Babes at St Paul’s C of E Church, Bushey Hall Road, welcomed Ofsted in a visit on March 15, 2022.
However the report - published on April 25 - reveals that the nursery has now downgraded from a ‘good’ centre to one that ‘requires improvement’.
Specifically, the school watchdog said that the interactions with children are “variable” and that staff sometimes overlook opportunities to extend children’s interests.
The report read: “Sometimes, staff look disinterested and, on occasions, children wander about with no purpose to their play.”
Inspectors also said that opportunities for children to develop their own play and ideas are sometimes restricted due to insufficient resources.
However it was said the manager “strives to provide inclusive care and education” to all children and is clear about what children need to learn and why.
Relationships between staff and the children also appeared positive.
