Surely I can’t be the only one to conclude the Wiggenhall Road / Thomas Sawyer Way junction needs some serious rework.
Waiting forever and a day on Wiggenhall to cross the hospital link road going north, finally the lights changed only for the green light for the invisible non-existent traffic on the link road to be given the go-ahead!
Years ago, in the foyer of the Science Museum in London, there was an exhibit demonstrating an ‘automatic’ light with an ‘electric eye’ to ‘see’ traffic queuing, phasing the lights accordingly. Today, it would be dubbed ‘smart lights’. Fifty years henceforth, perhaps Hertfordshire County Council should look into ‘smart lights’. If they’re unsure, I’m sure Harrow Council can show them.
Meanwhile, it’s good to see the wands separating the ludicrous cycle contraflow on Wiggenhall Rd have finally been removed. Could this be a sign of a rethink?
Commandeering kerbside space on the main road for an opposing cycle track makes no sense and it will only be a matter of time before there is a head-on collision. The Abbey flier lane going north should be on the right side in sympathy with the main road lane.
Whoever was behind this debacle really needs to go back to the drawing board.
