A yard manager at a farm says she was “horrified” to find over 100 bodies of lambs with their throat slit.

The corpses of 101 lambs covered in individual transparent bags were found at Hill Farm in Radlett after a walker spotted the sight.

Manager Dannii says herself and head girl Carys Notley “did not believe it” at first as nothing of the sort has happened in the past.

But the two were shocked when they verified the claims and saw the bodies of dead lambs stacked on top of each other.

Police believe that they were dumped at the field sometime between 3pm on April 7 and 3.45pm on April 8.

According to the yard manager, it appeared the corpses had slit marks by the throat and their ears were cut.

She said: “It was disturbing that these poor creatures were just done away like that.”

She also explained that some have accused the farm of being behind the body dump – but clarified they would never dispose any of their animals that way.

Dannii said there has been a lot of fly-tipping in the past, but never on the scale of dead animal bodies.

The farmer speculated that the suspects would have had to go through a lot of effort and cut through the locks of their gates at the back.

She added: “I feel really sorry for the poor little creature.”

Hertfordshire Constabulary believes that the suspects accessed the farm through a road called Kemprow.

PC Richard Donbavand said: “This is being treated as fly-tipping until we know more about how and why the lambs came to be there.

“We believe a truck ranging from a flat-bed to a box van in size may have been used to carry the lambs so would reiterate the appeal for anyone who may have seen a vehicle like this in the area during the times stated, to contact police.”
