Parts of Hertfordshire have been suffering from power and water outages this evening (March 24).
Both UK Power Networks and Affinity Water have confirmed issues affecting potentially tens of thousands of residents.
In the Watford area, problems with water supply appear to be the bigger concern with several postcodes affected - but the good news is the issue now appears to have been fixed.
Postcodes affected include WD17, WD18, WD19, WD23, WD24, and WD25 which is Watford, Leavesden, Bushey, and South Oxhey.
Affinity Water initially said on its website at 7.20pm: "We’re really sorry you haven’t got any water. We’ve been made aware of a fault at your local pumping station."
But at 9.20pm, the supplier said that fault has been fixed by a technician who attended the pumping station.
The company said: "We’re really sorry for the problems with your water today. We’ve fixed the fault at your local pumping station and you’ll see your water flowing back to normal soon.
"If your water is discoloured or cloudy, don’t worry this is normal. We know it doesn’t look nice, but it’s not harmful and you can help by running your cold tap until it’s clear."
Any residents still without water should see it return by 10pm, Affinity Water says.
Meanwhile, large parts of Hertfordshire suffered a power cut earlier this evening - some areas could still be experiencing problems.
Some residents were left without phone signal as well as suffering a complete power loss in their homes - UK Power Networks said at least 5,000 residents were affected in more than 60 postcodes, but the number of customers affected is thought to have been much higher.
Areas badly affected included St Albans, Chiswell Green, Bricket Wood, Hatfield, and Potters Bar but other parts of the county are also thought to have suffered power loss.
Thameslink temporarily stopped serving St Albans City station because the lights were out and said the decision to not let passengers off was due to safety reasons.
UK Power Networks said there was a fault on its electricity network and apologised for any disruption caused.
Power problems first occured shortly after 6.30pm. It returned at around 8pm but some homes may have suffered temporary outages since.
Affinity Water says the power cut has caused issues to water supply in St Albans, Hatfield, and Potters Bar.
