Firefighters put out a kitchen fire that broke out at a property in Oxhey last night (March 22).

One crew from Watford was called to Talbot Avenue at 9.15pm to reports of a building fire.

Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue confirmed on Twitter there was a fire in the ground floor kitchen and a hosereel, jet, and two sets of breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the flames.

The fire service added that all people were accounted for.

Details of other jobs attended by fire crews yesterday in the Watford area were also revealed on Twitter.

An hour before the incident in Oxhey, a crew were called to the ring road in the town centre after reports of a small fire.

Firefighters said they discovered a small amount of refuse on fire on steel gates and it was put out using a hosereel.

Later in the night, a Garston crew were mobilised to a report of a small vehicle fire in Weall Green on the Leavesden Green estate.

However, it was deemed to be a false alarm but the fire service said the caller, who rang in at around 1.15am, had "good intent".

The fire service also confirmed that at 1.25pm yesterday, two crews from Watford attended the property of a bed-bound patient following reports of a fire. It turned out to be a small oven fire which firefighters were able to treat easily.

A Watford crew were called at 5.23pm to help an "extremely distressed" person who had become stuck inside a lift at a commercial property, while two minutes later, a Garston crew responded to a call for help after a person suffered a cardiac arrest.

The fire service assisted the East of England Ambulance Service by putting the patient on a stretcher and getting them into an ambulance. The patient's latest condition is unknown.
