A large local collection for Ukraine may have to terminate its operation if it cannot find another premises this month.
Polish club Szaniec, a nonprofit organisation, has been operating in the Monks Buttery warehouse in Kings Langley but the site now needs to shut for business reasons.
Magdalena Warszycka, of Szaniec, hailed the “amazing” owner’s generosity, adding “we have no words to express our gratitude to them”.
But she added: “Unfortunately by the end of the month we need to find another unit in order to carry on.
“Our amazing community is devastated and so are we.
“As tired as we all are, we are still determined and driven!
“We have collected over 20 tons of goods so far and expecting to double it in the next few weeks.”
She pleaded with businesses in Watford and the surrounding areas to allow them to use their premises and continue the collection.
Anyone who is interested has been urged to email pk.szaniec@gmail.com.
Will you open your home to a Ukrainian?
The Government has unveiled a hotline and webpage where individuals, charities, businesses and community groups will be able to offer rooms to those escaping the conflict but with no family links to the UK. We would love to hear from you if you are going to open your home up.
