Some of the busiest routes in Watford are set to be affected by plans to temporarily shut numerous roads across the town for roadworks.
The closures are detailed in a notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer.
All temporary closure orders are valid for up to 18 months and the restrictions will only apply at the times specified on signs at or near the relevant locations.
The council is intending to make an order, due to take effect on April 1, to close these lengths of road in Watford for drainage works:
- A41 North Western Avenue from a point 260m north-west of its junction with Rushton Avenue north-westwards and south-westwards for a distance of 960m.
- Water Lane from its junction with A411 Beechen Grove to its junction with Bushey Hall Road.
- Water Lane from its junction with Beechen Grove to its junction with High Street.
- The road fronting Nos. 53 to 61 Water Lane for its entire length.
- The road situated on the east side of the River Colne from its junction with Water Lane for its entire length.
A second order, also due to take effect on April 1, is set to temporarily shut these roads:
- Bridlington Road, South Oxhey, from its junction with Fairfield Avenue to its junction with Oxhey Drive.
- Leggatts Way, Watford, from its junction with Gammons Lane to its junction with the Harebreaks / Churchfields Road roundabout.
- Leggatts Wood Avenue from its junction with A412 St Albans Road to its junction with Cherry Tree Road.
- Hazel Tree Road from its junction with Leggatts Wood Avenue south-westwards for a distance of 20m.
- Brocklesbury Close from its junction with Raphael Drive for its entire length.
- Raphael Drive from its junction with Radlett Road for its entire length.
- St Pauls Way from its junction with Brocklesbury Close north-westwards for a distance of 20m.
A third order is also scheduled to come into force on April 1. This is set to temporarily shut these Watford roads:
- Tudor Walk from its northernmost junction with Tudor Avenue for its entire length.
- Douglas Avenue from its junction with Tudor Avenue to its junction with Woodmere Avenue.
- Hillrise Avenue from its junction with Douglas Avenue south-westwards for a distance of 30m.
- Tudor Drive from its junction with Douglas Avenue south-westwards for a distance of 30m.
- Tudor Avenue from its junction with Colne Way to its junction with Bushey Mill Lane.
- Hagden Lane from its junction with A412 Rickmansworth Road to its junction with Princes Avenue.
