A candlelit vigil will take place in Bushey in support of all those caught up in conflict and trauma in Ukraine and Russia.
Members of the local community, together with faith representatives and councillors, will gather in unity on Sunday to light candles of hope during a vigil for peace at the SRMD London Spiritual Centre.
It will take place between 7pm and 9pm (March 6) and people are invited to attend and light a candle to show their support.
Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care will also be collecting urgently needed items at the centre in Falconer Road for the people of Ukraine including hygiene products, toiletries, first aid, and pens, pencils, and notepads.
Meanwhile, ISKCON Bhaktivedanta Manor's charity wing, The Lotus Trust, has launched efforts through its network of temples and affiliate organisations to support humanitarian aid to those impacted by the conflict.
Devotees of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), based in countries bordering the Ukraine, are providing free food and other assistance to people crossing the borders.
President of Bhaktivendata Manor in Letchmore Heath, Her Grace Visakha Dasi, said: "Our whole community and beyond has reacted with compassion and generosity to get help to where it is needed most, prayers are being held daily for the conflict to be resolved."
This week, Watford MP Dean Russell was invited by the Prime Minister to accompany His Excellency Vadym Prystaiko, Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK in the House of Commons.
Dean and John are both Parliamentary Private Secretaries (PPS) to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and were sat alongside the ambassador for Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday.
Mr Russell said: "What is happening in Ukraine is utterly heart-breaking and profoundly wrong. The strength, courage, patriotism, and determination shown by the people of Ukraine has been incredible, and I know colleagues are working hard to ensure we offer them as much support as possible."
