Police are investigating the sudden deaths of four people in Hertfordshire that are suspected to be drug related.
Hertfordshire Constabulary says one of the deaths occurred in Hertsmere on Tuesday, March 1, and that two others also died on the same day in East Herts and Broxbourne.
Another person died in the Welwyn Hatfield area on Wednesday, February 23, police said.
“At this time, the circumstances around their deaths are unclear and there is no evidence that they are linked, but early indications suggest they may be drug related,” a force spokesperson added.
A fifth person was also reported to have been seriously unwell and is currently receiving hospital treatment.
Superintendent Nev Hanks said: “Although we are still in the very early stages of our investigations, it is only right that we reach out to those who use illegal drugs and urge them to be extra cautious about what they are using and how much.
"Support and advice is available via the Spectrum and Talk to Frank websites. Details of further support agencies are also available on the Hertfordshire County Council website.
“We will seek to issue any updates in due course.”
