Mobile CCTV cameras are being deployed to crack down on illegal fly tipping in Watford.
The new pilot scheme was given the green light at a Cabinet meeting at Watford Borough Council on Monday and will be in use by May 2022.
It will target fly tipping hotspots over several months in the town to identify people responsible for dumping illegal waste and rubbish.
The mobile cameras will also pick up any other incidents of anti-social or criminal behaviour.

As part of the pilot, the council will be recommending how further areas can be included in the mobile CCTV coverage.
Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “Dumping waste on Watford’s streets is not only unsightly and very costly to the council, it is illegal, with people facing significant fines, and even jail, if caught.
"I regularly hear from residents and businesses who are frustrated when they see their local area used to get rid of other people’s rubbish. Mobile CCTV cameras can provide a real deterrent to would-be fly tippers but if people choose to ignore the warning, the evidence they provide will help us build a case against them.
“With advances in technology, it is right that we trial mobile CCTV cameras. It is really important that we do everything we can to tackle fly tipping to keep our streets and parks clean and tidy.”
