A pizza takeaway has jumped from scoring a 1/5 to being considered ‘good’ after a recent food standards inspection.

Farmhouse Pizza in South Oxhey was previously told “major improvement” was necessary after inspections by the Environmental Health team on October 6, 2021.

However inspectors visited the takeaway once more on February 10 this year, now rating the establishment with a 4/5.

Previously it was found the hygienic food handling was ‘good’ – but the cleanliness and condition of facilities needed necessary improvement, while the management of food safety needed ‘major improvement’.

Specifically, inspectors during the October visit noted that he did not witness handwashing “the entire time” and warned of cross contamination while preparing high risk meats and ready to eat foods.

But after improving the food standards at the site, the takeaway’s hygienic food handling has been rated ‘generally satisfactory’, the cleanliness and condition of facilities ‘very good’ and the management of food safety ‘good’.

Staff were able to turn around the overall food hygiene rating to ‘good’.

A spokesperson from Three Rivers District Council previously said they would never leave businesses “operating in a way that presents a risk to public health” and would close them if there were apparent “major issues”.
