I must take issue with Mr Andy Love, who remains determined to deprive Watford of its new hospital on its present site (A welcome intervention, Letters, February 18).
He says we should welcome the Health Secretary being invited to rake over old ground by the Tory MP for Hemel Hempstead and potentially reneging on building plans at Watford General. Really?
We have waited long enough. If the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives when in coalition together had not ripped up Labour’s hospital plans from 2010, we’d already have a new hospital built by now rather than still be talking about it.

There are many things that would be welcome in Watford this year, a moratorium on the high-rise ‘Taylor’s Towers’ which disfigure our skyline for starters. Watford remaining in the Premier League would be very welcome too.
However, Mr Love’s stated aim of stopping the redevelopment of Watford of its hospital in its tracks is not something to be welcomed from any quarter.
