A man has suffered serious injuries after he became trapped after a tree fell on a van during Storm Eunice.
Emergency services responded to the incident on Friday afternoon in Moor Park as strong winds battered the area.
Paramedics were joined by firefighters and an air ambulance after reports that a tree had fallen on two vans in Main Avenue.
Police have confirmed that one man was trapped and it has been alleged that he may have suffered at least one broken leg although the exact nature of injuries has not been disclosed.
However, police have confirmed the injuries to be serious.
Photos taken by a passer-by show the tree looked to be relatively large.
It came to rest stretched right across the road and over the vans.
The local, who did not want to be named, said: "There were two or three police cars and maybe up to four ambulances. I asked around if anyone was hurt and was told that someone might have suffered a broken leg and that they were being treated in the ambulance.
"It's a huge tree that goes right from one garden into another one."
The person added that the tree remains in Main Avenue cordoned off today.
Police shut the road with a photo showing a row of emergency services in the street.
A police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 2.27pm (February 18) by the ambulance service to reports a tree had fallen on two vans in Main Avenue, Moor Park, one man was trapped.
"The fire service and helimed were also in attendance at the scene. The injured man was taken to hospital with serious injuries."
Storm Eunice caused disruption across Hertfordshire with countless trees falling and damage to properties.
