A café specialising in sweet and savoury snacks has opened in West Watford.
Owner Jaffar Shah officially opened his new business Chaii Junction, in Whippendell Road, on Sunday.
The eatery serves both hot and cold snacks including Chai tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milkshakes, doughnuts, wraps, samosas, and kebabs.
On Sunday, Jaffar, who is Watford born-and-bred, was joined by his father Zafar and other members of his family for the grand opening of the café, which has seen a run-down building on the corner of Harwoods Road transformed.
Zafar said: "This is the first café of its kind to open in Watford, you could say, and family and friends have been really excited. This type of café is needed in the area to serve the local community.
"I'm very proud of my son. He has worked hard to make this happen and has put in plenty of research into the menu."
Zafar says the café is currently operating a takeaway and delivery service between the hours of 5pm and 11pm, but is looking forward to welcoming customers throughout the day and to sit-in soon.
Watford mayor Peter Taylor and North Watford Labour councillor Asif Khan also attended the opening of Jaffar's business.
Mr Taylor said: "This will be a lovely place for members of the local community to meet and enjoy the range of food and drink that is on offer. Watford Council is working closely with local businesses because we know how important they are, providing local jobs and places for people to meet. I wish Mr Shah the very best with this new venture."
Cllr Khan added: "I was happy to support the opening of Chaii Junction, it is a local family-run business. The owner, Jaffar Shah is a young man who has put a lot of thought and dedication into opening it, supported by his proud father.
"On the day, they served an excellent pukka cuppa. I support local businesses and admire entrepreneurship shown . Small and medium sized businesses are something that need to be supported by all and are the bedrock of Watford's local economy."
