Motorists using some of the busiest routes in Watford and Bushey are facing disruption due to forthcoming planned roadworks.
A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer details plans to temporarily close sections of the A41 North Western Avenue, its slip roads, the A405 North Orbital Road as well as other roads in Watford.
All temporary closure orders last for up to 18 months and the works will only take place at times displayed on signs at or near the relevant locations.
The county council is intending to make an order that, if made, will come into effect on February 25 prohibiting traffic from using the following lengths of road:
- The A41 northbound slip road leading onto the northbound carriageway of A41 North Western Avenue Colne Way, Watford, from its junction with the A4008 Stephenson Way/M1 (Junction 5) roundabout north-westwards to its junction with the northbound carriageway of the A41.
- The northbound carriageway of the A41 North Western Avenue, Bushey / A41 Otterspool Way, Watford from a point 636m north-west of its junction with the B462 Hartspring Way roundabout north-westwards for a distance of 548m.
- The A41 southbound slip read leading onto Stephenson Way / M1 roundabout from its junction with the southbound carriageway of A41 North Western Avenue Colne Way south-eastwards and north-eastwards it its junction with Stephenson Way / M1 roundabout.
- The southbound carriageway of A41 North Western Avenue, Woodside / A41 North Western Avenue Colne Way / Otterspool Way, Watford, from its junction with the A41 The Dome roundabout south-eastwards for a distance of approximately 2098m.
Separately, the county council is also intending to make an order, due to take effect on February 21, that would prohibit vehicles from using the A405 North Orbital Road, Watford from its junction with the A41 North Western Avenue / High Road roundabout north-eastwards, south-eastwards and north-eastwards to its junction with A412 St Albans Road, a distance of approximately 2285m.
Another order, scheduled to come into operation on February 23, would temporarily prevent vehicles from using these lengths of road due to highway drainage works:
- Alexandra Road, Watford, from its junction with Langley Road south-westwards to its junction with The Avenue, a distance of 347m.
- Beechpark Way, Watford, from its junction with Stanbury Avenue south-eastwards, clockwise, north-eastwards and north-westwards for its entire length.
- Devereux Drive, Watford, from its junction with Langley Way, north-westwards for its entire length.
- Grandfield Avenue, Watford, from its junction with Langley Road south-westwards and north-westwards for its entire length.
