A dog owner has been left heartbroken after a larger dog fatally mauled her pet at a playground in Watford.

Snowy died two days after the bloody attack at Harwoods Playground off Vicarage Road on Wednesday (January 19).

The owner was walking her Coton de Tulear and two dogs at around 9.30am when it ran up to another dog, which instantly began to attack Snowy.

According to the distressed owner, the larger dog was biting Snowy– while the attacking dog’s owner was kicking her pet to make it let go.

“She couldn’t hold him enough because he was a very big dog,” said the grieving owner.

“It happened so quickly – he just came and was snatched straight away.”

Pictures seen by the Watford Observer confirm that Snowy suffered severe injuries, as his fur was stripped off and much of his flesh was exposed.

His owner said that Snowy was “torn apart” and was “pouring with blood”.

The dog was rushed for treatment but the owner was distraught to hear that Snowy died on Friday.

She says she fears that it could happen to other dogs, kids or even adults in the area and is worried about leaving her own home.

“The dog needed a muzzle,” she added.

The owner of the attacking dog is described as a white woman in her 30s or 40s, of skinny build and dark hair.

Hertfordshire Constabulary were made aware of the attack and have been contacted for more details.
