A trick or treater from Watford was left disappointed after unwrapping a Brussel sprout disguised as a Ferrero Rocher - with the word 'trick' hidden inside.
Ralph Smith, six, was out trick or treating with his family on Halloween when someone put a Ferrero Rocher in his pot.
The school boy thought he'd struck gold, and as soon as he got home, excitedly started sifting through his takings for the evening.
But, things weren't exactly as they seemed, and after unwrapping the highly anticipated chocolate he got a nasty surprise.
A crafty neighbour had disguised a Brussel sprout in Rocher wrapping with the word 'trick' scrunched up on a small piece of paper inside.
Ralph's older brother Dan Smith, 16, was there to witness his siblings disappointment at unwrapping a vegetable, but says Ralph was able to see the funny side of it.
Dan said: "Although my brother was visibly disappointed, for a little kid, he handled the situation well.
"I guess whoever gave it to him decided to have some fun of their own this Halloween, and, to be fair to them, their trick worked a treat!"
