Motorists in Watford and the surrounding areas may face disruption due to a number of temporary closures for roadworks.
A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer details the extent of the planned closures and other restrictions that may be introduced while the works are carried out.
All temporary closure orders, if made, are valid for 18 months and the specified restrictions will only take effect at the times indicated on signs at or near the relevant locations.
The council is intending to make an order to close Wellstones, Watford, from its junction with A411 Exchange Road north-eastwards and south-eastwards to its junction with Market Street, a distance of approximately 275m.
The order is planned to come into force on October 29 and is needed to enable a mobile crane to dismantle an existing tower crane.
The alternative route will be via A411 (Exchange Road/Beechen Grove), Clarendon Road, High Street and Market Street.
Muriel Avenue, Watford, from a point in line with the northern boundary of No. 2 south-eastwards for its entire length, is set to be closed for drainage works, except for access.
This order, if made, is scheduled to come into force on November 1.
Another order due to take effect from the same date is in Hope Green, Watford, for utility service works.
The road is set to be shut from a point in line with the northern boundary of No. 2 south-eastwards for a distance of approximately 20m, except for access.
The county council is also seeking to make two orders to temporarily close different sections of Sarratt Road.
The first is from the junction with public footpath No. 058 south-westwards for a distance of approximately 400m.
This is due to come into force on November 2 and is to enable an existing utility pole to be replaced.
During this closure the alternative route will be via Sarratt Road, Redhall Lane, Chandlers Lane, Toms Hill, Bucks Hill, The Common, The Street, Dunny Lane, Poles Hill, The Green, Dimmocks Lane and Sarratt Road.
The second closure is set to apply from two days later and is required for utility service works.
This will prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Sarratt Road from its junction with Dimmocks Lane south-westwards and south-eastwards to its junction with public footpath No. 042, a distance of approximately 1060m.
The diversion will be via Dimmocks Lane, The Green, Poles Hill, Dunny Lane, The Street, The Common, Bucks Hill, Toms Hill, Chandlers Lane, Redhall Lane and Sarratt Road.
