Police have given an update on the condition of a boy who was hit by a car in Garston.

Emergency services flooded North Orbital Road close to the McDonald's after the 12-year-old was struck just before 3pm on Friday, October 1.

He received medical treatment from paramedics before being airlifted to the Royal London Hospital for further treatment.

Hertfordshire Constabulary had said this afternoon (Saturday) that the boy is in a serious but stable condition.

But the force has now confirmed that the boy is in a critical but stable condition.

North Orbital Road was closed at the junction with the cinema and the St Albans Road junction for several hours while investigations were carried out.

Police say the driver of the car stopped at the scene following the incident.

The road has now reopened.
