Further to the article (regarding the Dome roundabout, Watford Observer, September 17), I quote from Alan W. Ball’s 1973 book Street and Place Names in Watford - The Dome roundabout stands at the junction of North-Western Avenue and the St Albans Road and is so named not because it is dome-shaped, but after the nearby Dome garage. This became one of the Blue Star chain of garages in 1960, but by then the name had been so firmly established that it is never likely to be changed.
