Watford Community Housing have partnered up with neighbouring Hertfordshire housing associations in a goal to make sustainable carbon neutral homes.
The housing association is forecasting to spend more than £11 million over the next nine years as part of the sustainable homes schemes to ensure all of its properties meet EPC Band C energy efficiency requirements by 2030.
It has teamed up with B3Living in Hoddesdon and Settle in Letchworth Garden City to adopt more sustainable ways of working, reduce the negative impacts of construction and invest in energy efficient homes.
Watford Community Housing is also employing off-site manufacturing techniques and retrofitting numerous properties with external wall insulation to minimise the carbon footprint of its homes.
A new sustainability lead role is in now on offer, who will be tasked in researching piloting new schemes and technologies that ensure the partnership is eco-friendly.
Steve Woodcock, chief executive of B3Living said: “We’re extremely excited about the joint sustainability role, not only to help us reach our environmental targets, but also as a mark of our commitment to collaborative work that will improve the wellbeing of residents across Hertfordshire.
“We’re looking for someone with technical skills and experience, but most importantly a passion for sustainability and the benefits it can bring to our communities. If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.”
