A former homeware store has come crashing down in preparation for a new major housing development.
A photo taken today shows The Range store in St Albans Road in Watford almost completely demolished.
Much of the large store had been dismantled by a crane with the store car park fenced off to protect the public.
When an initial picture was taken, just a corner of the shop remained standing with the rest of the building crumbled to the ground.
By the late afternoon, it looked the entire building had been pulled down.
The Range store was always going to be knocked down ever since planning permission was granted in 2019 for 1,214 homes on the site.
Berkeley Homes was granted permission by Watford Borough Council for the tallest building in Watford's history - 28 storeys.
There will also be towers of 24 and 22 storeys with the large site behind Watford Junction station being redeveloped into a huge residential complex called The Eight Gardens.
Earlier this year, The Range opened a new replacement store at Watford Arches Retail Park on the other side of town.
The new space, which was formerly Mothercare, is much smaller than the St Albans Road site - but there are plans to extend into next door B&Q.
This will enable The Range to have an outdoor sale area and also provide a range of frozen food products from supermarket chain Iceland.
