The family of a man who has been missing for two months are urgently asking for anyone with information of his whereabouts to come forward.

Police have been searching for Viktor Vaimel, aged 41, since he was last spotted near the River Chess behind Salters Close in Rickmansworth on July 3 this year.

Divers were even called to search the river and extensive searches took place at the woodland in the area in hopes to track Viktor.

However more than eight weeks on, Viktor, who is originally from Estonia and now lives in Tottenham, still has not been found.

On the day he went missing, he visited his sister Lana who lives in the Three Rivers area.

He is described as 5ft 10in tall with short brown hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing blue jeans with a white T-shirt, white trainers and a black jacket.

Hertfordshire Constabulary say that he is a smoker and often travels by train – but at the time he went missing he had no phone, travel documents, money or bank cards in his possession.

In hopes to find more information about his safety, his sister said: “All we want to know is that Viktor is safe.

“The whole family is extremely worried about him. We hope that he will come back home one day. It’s so painful for us to live in such an uncertainty.

“We love him and we wish he could just call us to say he is okay. Every day we are thinking of him.”

As part of their efforts in tracking his whereabouts, officers have handed out leaflets to the local community and information has been shared to both the Estonian community and media.

Three Rivers chief inspector Alex Warwick, said: “It has been more than two months since Viktor’s family have heard anything from him and it has understandably been an incredibly difficult time for them.

“We are doing all we can to bring them good news, but sadly our enquiries to date have not led us to any answers.

“Missing person cases are by their very nature challenging to investigate, and our enquiries in relation to bank accounts, local CCTV, phone activity and social media footprints have not produced any leads in relation to Viktor’s whereabouts, nor have searches of local river and woodland areas.

“If you have any information at all, please come forward and speak to us. Viktor’s family deserve answers.”

If anyone has seen Viktor or has any information on his whereabouts, contact the non-emergency Hertfordshire Constabulary number 101 quoting ISR 421 of 3 July.
