Hertfordshire is not short of quaint locations for brunch, whether it’s in one of the villages and towns or right in the heart of the woods, there’s something for everyone.
Here’s a selection of some of the county’s most popular spots for coffee and cake, avocado on toast, or pancakes and waffles.
Dacorum
Brownlow Café at Ashridge offers breakfast all day. Dog friendly with cakes and food locally sourced, it feels very wholesome. Fishery Wharf Café on the Grand Union Canal is another great spot in Dacorum, and afterwards you can enjoy a walk along the canal.
St Albans
Crêpeaffaire serves up waffles, vegan, and gluten free gallettes, and their signature pancakes. In another spot called the Street Cafe, eggs Florentine, avocado, vegan breakfast and the locally renowned shakshuka eggs are on the menu.
Abbots Kitchen
Abbots Kitchen in St Albans Cathedral is a great spot for a coffee and cake where you can pull up a chair in the alfresco dining area or in the café inside the cathedral.
Atria Watford
Head to Atria Watford for a large choice of brunch locations. With vegan and gluten free options, Lounge is a relaxed place to catch up with friends and The Florist offers pancakes and juices and more in its pretty décor.
Hatfield House
Breakfast at Hatfield House involves fresh pastries, breakfast muffins and then one can enjoy a stroll through the gardens that surround the historic house.
Hertford
Hertford Coffee Lab roasts their own coffee at their roasters, Bionic Bull. Pair their rich coffee with one of their freshly baked cake for a delicious treat. After coffee and cake, stroll the historic town of Hertford.
Knebworth
The Garden Terrace Tea Room at Knebworth House serves up home-made cakes, coffees, tea, and hot and cold snacks. If the weather is on your side, strolling through the manicured gardens and rolling parkland is a must.
