A 16-year-old boy, who is set to make his international debut representing Team GB, excelled in a recent tournament.
Ivan Deb, a young visually impaired tennis champion from Watford, competed in his first tournament on August 14 since the pandemic cancelled the World Visually Impaired Tennis Championships in Italy last year.
He was born with a rare connective tissue disorder, which means that he is partially sighted.
During the Gosling Visually Impaired tournament this month, he won all three of his matches without dropping a game.
He was meant to represent Team GB when competing in the world championships last year, but it was cancelled due to the pandemic.
He is also the youngest player to represent Great Britain's LTA men's visually impaired tennis squad.
Deb, who trains at West Herts Tennis Club and David Lloyd Northwood, said: "It feels so great to be back on court competing again and I'm looking forward to the busy tournament schedule ahead which will hopefully lead me to the next World Championships."
He took up the sport nearly three years ago, and managed to quickly excel despite his visual impairment.
Just four months after starting his tennis career, Ivan won the LTA Junior Festival and his success in the sport continued last year when he won the senior singles and doubles categories at the LTA National Visually-Impaired Tennis Championships.
