Popular plans to build a new pizza café in a village in Watford have been withdrawn.
Vincenzo’s, a small pizza business, submitted a planning application to Watford Borough Council in June to use a vacant site in Capel Road, Oxhey, as a pizza café.
Vincenzo’s has been trading from Load of Hay pub in Watford Heath since July 2020 and was looking to expand its business.
But for reasons unclear at this stage, it decided to withdraw the application on July 29.
The business said in document on the council’s planning portal said that it was looking to “cater to more of the Oxhey residents in the heart of the village”.
The document added: “We believe our business will be a great addition to the already thriving businesses in the village.”
Residents were in favour of the plans and showed their support through comments on the council’s planning portal.
One said: “This would be a welcomed addition to our lovely village and would help keep the community thriving.
“There is certainly a demand for an eatery in the village and this one would be perfect.”
Another added: “Looks fantastic, fully support. A great addition to the village.”
Another said: "I am due to move to Oxhey Village this month and am fully supportive of this application.
"Having spent time in the area I think this new cafe will only enhance the (already lovely) feel of the village and offer a high quality pizza cafe experience."
The planning applicants have been contacted as to why the application was withdrawn.
