A local brass band that has played for over 125 years is in desperate need for new players.
The Watford Brass Band traditionally held regular rehearsals and social events up until the Covid-19 pandemic struck, and the full band were unable to play altogether for over a year.
Now with the whole band starting to rehearse again, and a schedule of concerts planned, the band hopes to find a new generation of brass players to carry the torch onwards.
The band rehearses twice a week in Bushey, and plays in various events including contests, paid concerts, charity fundraisers and summer fetes.
Musical director Ian Graves said: “What is essential is to keep 'blowing' and keep practising.
“Band members have been personally affected by the virus, losing loved ones, it been vital to keep the social contact up and support each other.”
John Robb, the band chair, explained: “'It's great to be back, meet others and make music.”
Now searching for more members, the band released a statement saying: “We're always on the lookout for potential new members, irrespective of ability or experience.
“All that's required is a willing attitude and a smiling face. We are looking for new players - if you play Bb Bass, Trombone, Horn or percussion, don't hesitate to get in touch with us at watfordband@hotmial.co.uk or write to chair@watfordband.org.uk.”
