Thunderstorms and heavy rain may batter Watford and surrounding areas this weekend.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Hertfordshire, which is in place from 8pm this evening (Friday) until 10pm on Saturday.
And the weather forecaster issued a further warning for Sunday, which is running from 9am until midnight.
The Met Office says heavy rain and thunderstorms may lead to disruption and flooding, but is predicting that many places will remain dry on Sunday despite the warning.
Here’s what to expect on Friday evening and Saturday:
- Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- Flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes or hail
- Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
- Power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
Here’s what to expect on Sunday:
- There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
- Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
- Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads
- There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
